About the studio

Petro Garden Atelier is a landscape planning practice based in Bergen, focused on residential gardens and terraces across western Norway.

How we work

The studio was founded in 2019 by landscape architect Ingrid Petrova after a decade of practice with municipal parks teams and private garden contractors. Work stays at planning level — layouts, planting schedules and specification — while build and planting are carried out by your chosen contractor or our recommended partners.

Every commission starts with understanding how you use outdoor space: morning coffee spots, firewood storage, bike routes and where children play. Those habits drive path widths, surface choices and where beds sit relative to windows.

We do not sell plants or hardscape materials. That independence keeps specifications aligned with your budget rather than stock lists.

Principles we follow on every plot

Drainage first

Surface water routes are resolved before paving or planting zones are finalised, especially on clay soils common in Bergen valleys.

Honest maintenance

Plant lists note pruning hours and seasonal tasks so clients know ongoing care before anything goes in the ground.

Access-aware delivery

Specifications note gate widths and crane reach where large trees or prefab steps are specified.
